Interview - Laurelin McGee - Miss Match

Today I'm interviewing new to me author(s), Laurelin McGee, a pseudonym for the writing team of Laurelin Paige and Kayti McGee, presenting their newest release Miss Match. I can't wait to dig into my copy and I know when you read on you'll feel the same way!

Ladies, its all yours!

Overview

Welcome to the sexy, crazy, wildly unpredictable world of modern matchmaking, where fixing up strangers is part of the job--but falling in love is an occupational hazard…
HE'S THE PERFECT CATCH.
Blake Donovan is tall, handsome, rich, and successful--so why would a guy like him need a matchmaker?
Andrea Dawson has no idea, but a job is a job. After being blackballed from a career in marketing, Andrea agreed to use her unique profiling skills to play matchmaker out of pure desperation.
IS SHE HIS PERFECT MATCH?
Blake knows exactly the kind of woman he's looking for--and it's the total opposite of Andrea. Though smart and undeniably sexy, she is simply too headstrong for a man who's used to being in charge

Ladies hi and welcome to the Blog.
Thanks so much for having us!

Tell my readers a little about Miss Match.
Miss Match is the story of two very unlikely candidates falling in love when Blake Donovan—ultra-conservative alpha male, hires Andy Dawson—fun-loving and hot-tempered, to find him a wife.

What’s the heat level of the book?
Medium- there are a couple smoking hot bedroom scenes, but it’s not the kind of book you can’t take on the train!

Is this a stand-alone or will there be other matchmaking novels?
It does have a companion, Love Struck, out next February, but no more matchmaking!

Laurelin you’re a busy author in your own right.
How did you and Kayti become a writing duo?
We were in a writing group together when someone else posted a real life Craigslist and said, “Someone needs to write this book!” Kayti and I both claimed dibs and since we lived close to each other, we decided to try to write it together. It was an accidental partnership and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. It’s fun to be able to get outside the norm of what I usually write by writing with someone else.

Kayti, hi!
Can you enlighten us about your writing process.
Do you live near each other, or are there logistics involved?
Who does what in regards to writing the novel?
Our process has definitely evolved over time! It took us about half of Miss Match to find “our” voice without having to edit our separate styles together. Now when we look back, half the time we can’t even remember who wrote what.
We do live near each other, and I see Laurelin almost daily. It helps a ton with co-writing, because we’re constantly bouncing ideas off each other.
As far as who does what, we’re pretty democratic. Laurelin is always better at those big internal Feeling scenes than I am, and I love writing the comedic parts, so we do often split up who’s-writing-what based on that.

Laurelin, have you ever co-authored a book before?
No. And I never wanted to. But if you’re going to write a book with someone, Kayti’s the person to write with.

Kayti, on your bio is says you love to cook up recipes to go with your favorite books.
What was the most elaborate dish you ever came up and what book did it go with?
I actually wrote 101 recipes all based on The Hobbit for a cookbook. There was everything from Earl Grey-brined chicken to Eleventy-First Birthday Cake to cocktails. The most fascinating part was discovering all the scholarship that’s been done on Tolkien’s food- you can actually listen to college lectures about it on iTunes U.

Ladies you got a great review from Publisher’s Weekly. Congrats!
So are you all for reading all the reviews, some or none?
I think we’d be lying if we said we never peeked, but reviews aren’t always for the faint of heart! We have a friend who says, “Reviews are for the readers, not the authors,” and there’s a lot to be said for that.

Ladies thanks for chatting with me today.
Will you be touring with the novel?
We’ll be having our official release party in Denver, at the Tattered Cover on June 30, and then a secondary event in Kansas City on July 8. That’s all we have planned as of yet, and you can find details on the Facebook page for Laurelin McGee. We’d love to see you there.
            Thanks for the interview!
